Shari B. Robertson,
Vice President for Academic Affairs in Speech-Language Pathology
Shari Robertson, PhD, CCC-SLP is a Professor of Speech-Language Pathology and Dean's Associate for Graduate Studies and Research at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has taught undergraduate and graduate coursework in language development and disorders, phonology, counseling, literacy, and clinical experiences for 15 years. Prior to that, Dr. Robertson enjoyed 16 years as a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist in the West Bend, Wisconsin School District. As Dean's Associate, Dr. Robertson facilitates the development of quality graduate curriculum across the university and provides support for undergraduate and graduate scholarly activities.
Dr. Robertson has been an ASHA member for thirty years and is a two-term past-president of the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has served on the program committees of numerous ASHA annual conventions, including as co-chair of the 2010 convention in Philadelphia. Dr. Robertson has also been a member of the Professional Education Professional Issues Board, is an Associate Editor for LSHSS, and editorial consultant for a number of other print and on-line journals.
Dr. Robertson is a well-known speaker on a variety of topics across the country and internationally, including as an invited presenter at numerous ASHA Conventions, ASHA Schools Conferences, and ASHA Health Care/Business Institutes. She is perhaps best known for her workshops related to facilitating language and literacy development and “I Used to Have a Handle on Life, But it Broke (time and stress management). Dr. Robertson's publication record includes books, book chapters, and numerous clinical and research articles. She has secured multiple grants related to early literacy and telepractice.
Dr. Robertson was delighted to receive the Editor's Award for Language from the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. She has also received a number of awards for teaching excellence and service, including Professor of the Year from IUP's PanHellenic Council. She was the first recipient of the Herbert and Grace Dow Distinguished Alumnus award from Central Michigan University, where she earned her Master's degree. In addition, Dr. Robertson is a graduate of Western Michigan University's undergraduate program and obtained her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
