The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has been named one of the 40 healthiest employers in the Washington, DC area by the Washington Business Journal.
This is the first year the Washington Business Journal has honored healthy employers. The award honors companies whose policies and initiatives promote the health and well-being of their employees. The Washington Business Journal collected data through an online assessment tool that measured wellness programming in six key categories: culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analysis.
"ASHA's commitment to employees' wellness is an integral part of our culture," ASHA Executive Director Arlene A. Pietranton, PhD, CAE, says. "When our employees are healthy and happy, they are better able to serve our members. Our wellness program not only helps to address the needs of our staff and their families, it helps reduce our health care costs. We're honored to be among the first group of healthiest employers and congratulate the other organizations."
The official ranking of each company will be announced at an event on Thursday, September 22, at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington, DC.
