Connecticut Early Intervention Requirements for Practice
The information below is collected from state licensure boards or regulatory agencies responsible for developing requirements for the professions of audiology and/or speech-language pathology to work in the early intervention setting. Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
Education
Master’s degree
Certification/Licensure
State license is issued by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Prerequisite Training
Four-day service coordination training is required if the person will be acting as a service coordinator
Audiology Clinical Fellow
Licensure/Certification
Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) status permissive.
Additional Supervision Required
- Must be supervised by a licensed audiologist as required under § 20-411 C.G.S. at least one hour of supervision per month. Participates as a member of the team that meets at least monthly to receive support as needed to address child and family outcomes.
- All notes must be countersigned by a licensed audiologist.
Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow
Education
Master’s degree
Licensure/Certification
Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) status permissive.
Additional Supervision Required
- At least one hour per month of supervision. Participates as a member of a team that meets at least monthly to receive support as needed to address child and family outcomes. Under regular supervision by professionally licensed or certified SLP, personnel may function independently.
- All progress notes, evaluations and assessments must be countersigned by a supervisor who is a licensed SLP.
