The Special Interest Division on Communication Disorders and Sciences in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Populations was established to study, apply and advance knowledge of normal communication, communication disorders, and service delivery issues that affect African-, Asian-, Hispanic-Americans, American Indians, and other culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
RTI and Culturally/Linguistically Diverse Students - Web Event
Division 14 sponsored a live forum event on May 13, 2008, on Response to Intervention (RTI) framework with culturally and linguistically diverse public school students (archived event). Experts Judy Montgomery, of the Chapman University, School of Education, Orange, California, and Nancy Lewis, bilingual speech-language pathologist, Adams 12 Schools, Denver, Colorado, responded to questions from participants.
Perspectives is now an online-only publication!
Effective in 2008, Special Interest Division member publications, Perspectives, is now published online-only by HighWire Press. The Divisions went to the new format:
- To respond to affiliates' interests in accessing content online.
- To provide new benefits (e.g., archived issues).
- To save some GREEN. Increases in content and frequency of publication coupled with increasing postage costs have put a strain on Division budgets. Publishing online only will free up resources that can be allocated to other Division programs and member benefits.
- To be more GREEN. Online publishing is a positive step environmentally; it saves resources (paper, energy) associated with publishing hardcopy.
