Changing Certification Maintenance Intervals

Certificate holders can request that their 3-year maintenance intervals be changed so that contact hours, ASHA CEUs, and academic credit earned prior to the beginning of the initially assigned maintenance intervals can be used toward meeting the professional development requirement for maintaining the CCC-A and CCC-SLP. Intervals cannot be postponed, but they can be changed to begin earlier as long as you were a certificate holder during the year you want your changed interval to begin.

This is a one-time, permanent change.

How will changing my maintenance interval benefit me?

Audiologists

  • You will be able to take advantage of your AuD course work and other doctoral level academic credits that you completed prior to your initially assigned maintenance interval. For example, if your initially assigned maintenance interval is 2006-2008, you can move your interval to begin on January 1, 2005, if you completed academic course work in 2005. If your initially assigned maintenance interval is 2007-2009, you can move your interval to begin on January 1, 2006, if you completed academic course work in 2006.
  • You may change your interval so you can apply AAA CEUs, ASHA CEUs, AMA CMEs, or employer-sponsored in-services that you completed prior to your initially assigned maintenance interval.

Speech-Language Pathologists

  • You will be able to take advantage of the ASHA CEUs from the Schools Conference and ASHA Convention that you attended prior to your initially assigned maintenance interval. For example, if your initially assigned maintenance interval is 2006-2008, you can move your interval to begin on January 1, 2005 if you attended the ASHA Schools Conference or ASHA Convention in 2005; if your initially assigned maintenance interval is 2007-2009, you can move your interval to begin in 2005 or 2006 if you attended the ASHA Schools Conference or ASHA Convention in 2005 and/or 2006; or if your initially assigned maintenance interval is 2008-2010, you can move your interval to begin in 2006 or 2007, if you attended the ASHA Schools Conference or ASHA Convention in 2006 and/or 2007.
  • You may change your interval so you can apply doctoral level academic credits or employer-sponsored in-services that you completed prior to your initially assigned maintenance interval.
