The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requires individuals educated in foreign countries who wish to pursue ASHA certification to have their credentials evaluated by an independent foreign credential evaluation service. This listing of agencies that perform such evaluations is provided to assist individuals in locating a company with whom to work.
ASHA does not recommend or endorse any of the agencies named below. This list may not be exhaustive, and other agencies may be considered if they are able to provide the information required. The agencies listed are all members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), an association of private foreign educational credential evaluation services dedicated to promoting excellence and committed to setting the standard for the profession. Further information on NACES may be obtained through their Web site.
In requesting a review of your credentials for purposes of ASHA certification, please request a course-by-course evaluation in American semester hours with specific notation as to those courses completed at the graduate level. You must also request that the agency indicate the equivalent highest level of education you have completed.
In applying for ASHA certification, you will need to complete the official ASHA application and submit the application, along with an official copy of the translation you receive from the foreign credential evaluating agency.
