Students Erin King and Rachel Olsen, graduate student in the Communications Sciences & Disorders Department, University of Iowa, decided to collect and compile the thoughts and feelings of people with aphasia. They asked clients in Morning Aphasia Group at the University of Iowa's Wendell Johnson Speech & Hearing Center, 'What would you like people to know about aphasia?" and then compiled those thoughts on one side of bookmarks with aphasia facts/info about their group on the other and mass produced them.
Bookmarks will be distributed by the clients to their local libraries in atractive containers promoting Better Speech and Hearing Month as well as National Aphasia Awareness Month and urging library patrons to 'take a bookmark, learn about aphasia, and pass it on'.
