Executive-functioning (EF) dysfunction can manifest in a variety of ways, ranging from subtle symptoms to overt and debilitating difficulties. Although a uniform assessment approach doesn’t exist, rehabilitation specialists need to address the symptoms that interfere with a patient’s ability to implement rehabilitation strategies and manage daily activities. This program will approach EF assessment from an interdisciplinary perspective, helping SLPs and neuropsychologists better understand the patient’s EF deficits and how they impact everyday activities and community integration.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • discuss the components of EF in an integrative theoretical framework
  • select formal and contextual/ecological assessments of current EF theories and discuss how they relate to a team-assessment approach
  • integrate results of an EF assessment to aid in diagnosing EF deficits in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI)

Group Registration Note: A group registration entitles you to one Web to this program. Any number of people may listen and earn ASHA CEUs on that connection. The person who will act as site leader for the broadcast should register on behalf of the group. After registering, the site leader will be able to download seminar instructions, handouts, and CEU materials. The site leader needs to have, or create, a login to the ASHA Web site.
