Kids in High-Risk Situations: Your Legal and Ethical Obligations (On Demand Webinar)

This session will deal with a number of pressing questions about what to do when dealing with kids in high-risk situations. It will address what can be done when there is suspicion of substance abuse, whether involving legal or illegal substances; a client exhibits indications he or she is considering suicide; or there are signs of abuse. We will address how to identify these issues, whether to report them, if so, how/where to report and what the ethical and legal obligations for the audiologist/SLP are in this situation.

Learning Objectives:
You will be able to:

  • Use a checklist of signs to determine if you should act
  • Identify actions you can take to keep the child safe
  • Determine with whom to collaborate
  • Report the situation to the appropriate authorities
