In this program, we’ll review the ASHA Code of Ethics, highlighting the applicability of particular rules of ethics to school-based situations. We’ll contrast the principles with special education legal requirements and policies (e.g., eligibility requirements) . Then, we’ll share an ethical decision-making model and apply it to challenges frequently found in schools. We’ll round out the program by exploring different resolution strategies, including the resolution procedures for both special education and the Board of Ethics.

  • explain the four Principles of Ethics in the ASHA Code of Ethics
  • contrast ethical requirements with special education policy and legal requirements
