How to Become Involved in NOMS Data Collection for Schools

Clinicians may choose to participate in the Pre-Kindergarten and/or K-12 Schools component(s) in one of the following ways:

1. As part of a school system

  • A school system is defined as a predefined organizational/geographic grouping immediately above the individual school level. For a small school district, this could mean all of the schools in the district, but for a large school district, it might only include a subsection within the district.
  • 75% of the school system's speech-language pathologists providing services for each applicable component must be ASHA-certified.
  • To obtain meaningful outcomes information, the following are the minimum requirements for a school system to participate:
    1. All clinicians providing services to a school system (as defined by ASHA) for each applicable component must collect data. This includes both ASHA certified SLPs, as well as clinicians who are state-certified and/or licensed to provide speech and language services.
    2. All eligible students within a school system must be included in the data collection.

2. As an individual

  • To participate as an individual clinician, you must be a certified member of ASHA providing school-based services to students enrolled in K-12.
  • All of your NOMS eligible students must be included in data collection.

To become involved in this important effort complete the registration forms and submit them to ASHA or contact Jaumeiko Brown for more information at 301-296-8750 or JBrown2@asha.org.
