The Award for Early Career Contributions in Research is designed to acknowledge significant scientific accomplishments by individuals beyond the dissertation and/or within five years of receiving their doctoral degree, other terminal degrees, or completion of post-doctoral training. This award may be given to an individual or individuals under contract with an institution of higher education or other institution where research in communication sciences and disorders and sciences is being conducted.
More than one award may be given each year.
The Committee on Honors awards nominees solely on the information provided in the nomination document prepared by the sponsor. When information and/or documentation are incomplete, the Committee may be unable to award deserving individuals.
The Committee on Honors will consider requests to grant a single, one-year extension to the 5-year eligibility timeframe due to life events such as family leave, medical leave, disability, natural disasters, or active-duty military service. Documentation of the reason for the extension must be submitted with the nomination materials from the nominee’s employer or supervisor on institutional letterhead. This documentation is separate and will not be counted toward the 5-page limit requirement of the award application.
Failure to adhere to all required components and instructions will result in rejection of the nomination, including exceeding the specified number of pages.
