Candidate for Vice President for Academic Affairs in Speech-Language Pathology: Rachel Glade, CCC-SLP

Rachel Glade, PhD, CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT, is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) with experience as a professor, researcher, author, clinic director, program director, state association president, clinician, and clinical mentor and supervisor. She earned a bachelor of science degree while competing as a student-athlete for the University of Arkansas–Little Rock, a master of science degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and a PhD from the University of Arkansas (UA) in rehabilitation, research, and education.

Her clinical experience includes pediatric private practice, hospital, rehabilitation, and telepractice settings. In addition to being an SLP, Dr. Glade is a listening and spoken language specialist as well as an auditory-verbal therapist. Dr. Glade currently serves as the Program Director for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at UA as well as the Director of the Honors Program in the College of Education and Health Professions. In these roles, she works closely with faculty, staff, students, and community partners while facilitating undergraduate, graduate, and post-master’s certificate programs. Dr. Glade has served as the faculty mentor for the UA chapter of NSSLHA, which has been awarded Gold National Chapter Honors for the past 5 years. Dr. Glade has received teaching, service, and mentoring awards at departmental, college, and university levels.

Dr. Glade has been an active member of ASHA. Her volunteer service roles include being on the Professional Development Committee of SIG 9 and SIG 7, being on the Convention Topic Area Committee for SIG 18, and being on the Coordinating Committee for SIG 7, which she has coordinated for the past 2 years. Dr. Glade has also served as a subject-matter expert reviewer for ASHA’s Practice Portal on topics related to cochlear implants and auditory rehabilitation and is an alumni member of ASHA’s Leadership Development Program (LDP).
