ASHA CE Provider Responsibilities

To meet the intent of Standard 4, the Provider should have a process in place that includes the following:

  • What information is provided to potential content creators.
  • How and when expectations are shared with content creators.
  • Who will review the content.
  • Who will edit content for grammar and style, as appropriate.
  • How content is submitted and shared with reviewers.
  • How reviewer comments are collected and shared with content creators.
  • Whether the Provider receives a written update from the creator about changes made after the review.
  • Where all comments and correspondence are stored.
  • How information storage meets record retention requirements.

Special Circumstances

In certain situations, a complete content review may not be possible. These may include instances where the creator does not submit the content on time or where conferences have many sessions, making a full review impossible. In these situations, the Provider may consider the following:

  • Have all content creators attest that the content meets all requirements.
  • Include a question for learners about the content in course evaluations.
  • Convene a review group that looks at course titles, learning outcomes, and a course abstract to determine if is appropriate for the audience, appears current, and reflects best practices.
  • Develop criteria for rating course proposals.

The Provider should document these processes as evidence of meeting the standard.
