New 5-Year Reapproval Process

March 5, 2025

Every 5 years, ASHA CE Providers undergo a reapproval review. Due to the implementation of the new Standards for ASHA CE Providers and ASHA CE Policies (as of July 1, 2025), we are making changes to the 5-year review process.

What Has Changed?

In the past, the 5-year review consisted solely of a compliance review. As we implement the current compliance model, we are addressing these issues in real time—through consultation and actions plans. To ensure that reapproval decisions are meaningful to both ASHA CE and Providers, we are now focusing on items that are not regularly reviewed. These include items that your organization is already expected to have, such as the following:

The reapproval period is an opportunity for you to review policies and procedures and make updates, as needed. We will provide resources to help you understand our expectations for these items. We are also willing to help you develop processes and policies—if you do not already have them in place.

Timelines and Fees

Providers in the 5-year review will be notified at the end of the year prior (e.g., Providers in the 2025 review were notified in late 2024). You will be assigned to a review group and given at least 3 months’ notice about your submission deadline—as well as details about what is being requested and how to submit.

Providers who do not intend to continue offering courses for ASHA CEUs past their reapproval date should email cereapproval@asha.org. If you are unsure about your reapproval date, please reach out to your Provider team.

The 5-year review fee will be invoiced upon reapproval. This fee is in addition to the annual fee and must be paid for an organization to remain an ASHA Approved CE Provider.

Please reach out to cereapproval@asha.org with any questions.
