The following new and revised ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) codes were effective October 1, 2022, for fiscal year (FY) 2023. ICD-10-CM codes are updated annually. See ASHA's website for the latest updates.
There were no major changes to ICD-10-CM codes directly related to hearing or vestibular disorders for FY 2023. However, audiologists should be aware that the 2023 ICD-10-CM significantly expanded Chapter 5 (Mental, Behavioral and Neurodevelopmental Disorders) with new codes describing dementia (F01-F03) and mild neurocognitive disorder (F06.7-).
Note: Always check with payers regarding coverage of new or revised ICD-10-CM codes. Coding changes may not always alter payer coverage decisions for specific conditions.
